Physiotherapy is deeply rooted in Tove Williman’s family heritage, with both her mother and grandmother having established careers in this domain. However, their influence on her professional journey was not due to their insistence, but rather through a personal experience of injury and recovery that ignited her passion for physiotherapy.
After overcoming the challenges of rehabilitation and ultimately returning to sports, Ms. Williman found herself profoundly inspired by the dedication and expertise of her physiotherapists. Their ability to make the arduous process of rehabilitation both effective and enjoyable left a lasting impression on her, motivating her to pursue this rewarding career. Today, she expresses that it was one of the best decisions she has ever made.
Tove’s academic and professional journey has endowed her with a diverse skill set and extensive knowledge in physiotherapy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from Umeå University in northern Sweden, which provided a robust foundation for her practice. Furthering her education, she obtained a Master’s degree in Sports Science from the University of Innsbruck in Austria, where she deepened her understanding of sports-related injuries and treatments.
In addition to her formal education, Ms. Williman has acquired various certifications and skills that enhance her practice, including:
- Acupuncture
- Massage therapy and sports massage
- Lymphatic drainage massage
- Manual therapy and spinal manipulation therapy (SMT-1)
Her career has afforded her the opportunity to work with a wide array of sports teams and athletes, particularly those involved in winter sports. Tove has served as a sideline physiotherapist at numerous sporting events, including ski competitions. Her diverse professional experiences also encompass roles in acute care, orthopaedics, private practice, and teaching group classes. These classes include “Fit for Skiing,” “Mind and Body Training,” and “Shoulder Prehab for 50+,” among others.
In her practice, Ms. Williman emphasizes a holistic and patient-centred approach, specializing in sports injuries and supporting athletes in their return to play. She thrives on challenges and has developed a particular expertise in treating knee injuries. Her objective is to ensure that each patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.
Outside of the clinic, she can be found out skiing, biking, rock climbing, foraging and bringing up two beautiful wee kids.
